Raden Wijaya | Founder of the Majapahit Kingdom

Raden Wijaya | Founder of the Majapahit Kingdom

Raden Wijaya or Dyah Wijaya was the founder and first king of the Majapahit Kingdom who ruled in 1293-1309, with the title Sri Kertarajasa Jayawardana, or in full Nararya Sanggramawijaya Sri Maharaja Kertarajasa Jayawardhana.

According to Nagarakretagama Raden Wijaya was the son of Dyah Lembu Tal, the grandson of Mahisa Campaka or Narasinghamurti. His grandfather was the son of Mahisa Wonga Teleng, the son of Ken Arok and Ken Dedes. Ken Arok or Sri Ranggah Rajasa was the founder of the Rajasa Dynasty which later gave birth to the kings of Singhasari and Majapahit. This manuscript praises Lembu Tal as a brave and brave officer and the father of Raden Wijaya.

From his genealogy, Raden Wijaya was also Kertanagara's nephew, while Kertanagara was a descendant of Anusapati, the son of Ken Dedes and Tunggul Ametung.

According to the Balawi Inscription (1305), the Sukamerta Inscription (1296), and the Nagarakretagama Kakawin, Raden Wijaya married four daughters of Kertanagara, the last king of the Singhasari Kingdom, namely Tribhuwaneswari, Narendraduhita, Jayendradewi, and Gayatri.

With Tribhuwaneswari, Raden Wijaya had a son named Jayanagara. With Gayatri, Wijaya had two daughters. The eldest daughter was named Tribhuwana Wijayatunggadewi. The youngest daughter was named Rajadewi Maharajasa.
