Six World Class Surfing Spots in Indonesia

Besides having amazing panoramas, Indonesia is also one of the destinations for sports tourism for the world's surfing spots.  This is not surprising because Indonesia has many world-class surfing locations which are quite challenging.
Not surprisingly, some of the best locations in Indonesia are often included in the main calendar of international surfing championships.

The following are the six world-class best surfing spots in Indonesia.

 1. Sorake Beach, Nias

Sorake Beach in Nias, North Sumatra, is included in the first list of world-class surfing locations.  On 23 – 29 June 2022, this beach will become a place for world surfers to compete in the World Surf League (WSL) Nias Pro 2022.
One of the highlights of this beach is the rolling waves that almost reach the shoreline for 200 meters.  Of course, this is very rarely found on other beaches in the world.  That way, the interval for riding the waves on Sorake Beach, which can reach 3-5 meters, becomes longer.
 2. Plengkung Beach, Banyuwangi

Another name for Plengkung Banyuwangi Beach is G-Land.  This beautiful beach in East Java is often the main location for national and world surfers.  Some say, this is the best surfing location in the world after Hawaii.
The waves at Plengkung Beach can reach 6-8 meters with intervals of up to 5 minutes.  Therefore, it is not surprising that G-Land often hosts international surfing competitions.  Finally, this beach will host the WSF Championship Tour G-Land Pro 2022, 28 May – 4 June 2022.
 3. Mentawai Islands

The Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra have around 400 surf spots.  It's no wonder that many people call these islands a "hidden paradise" for world surfers.  Among hundreds of surfing locations, Sipora Island is one of the best and has been included in the 20 Best Surfing Spots in the World.

Sipora Island has relatively consistent waves, reaching 7 meters.  Because of the high waves, it seems to form a tunnel which is of course challenging for world surfers.  April – October is the best time to surf on Sipora Island.
 4. Tanjung Setia Beach, Lampung
This year, Tanjung Setia Beach in Lampung is included in the World Surf League calendar.  The international surfing event entitled World Surf League Krui Pro 2022 was successfully held on June 11-17 2022. World surfers were even impressed by the rolling waves and panoramic views of this beach.
This beach, which is directly facing the Indian Ocean, does have a stunning location, especially for surfing.  During the peak of the surfing season, namely June to August, the waves at Tanjung Setia Beach can reach 6 – 7 meters high.  This long wave interval reaches 200 meters.

 5. Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara
If in East Java there is a G-Land then in East Nusa Tenggara it has a T-Land.  That's the name for the surf location on Rote Island.  The waves on one of Indonesia's outer islands can extend up to 300 meters with a height of 4-5 meters.
Some of the best surf locations on Rote Island are Nemberala Island, Bo'a Beach, and Ndana Island. Dont Forget the people is friendly and Funny.

 6. Nihiwatu Island, West Sumba
Still in East Nusa Tenggara, the best surfing spots are on Nihiwatu Island.  The combination of the beautiful nature and the unique culture and friendliness of the local people completes the memorable experience of surfing on this island.
Because it has high and challenging waves, this island is nicknamed "Left God Waves".  The best time to surf on Nihiwatu Island is July – August.  Not Only Surfing, You Can try yoga and tradional lifestyle
