KNOW THE KING OF Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was officially established on September 23, 1932. The establishment of this kingdom was marked by the union of two large regions of the Arabian Peninsula, Nejed and Hijaz under the rule of King Abdul Aziz Alu Saud.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a Sunni kingdom which is based on Hambali. Saudi kings are also known as supporters of the salafiyah propaganda which is often dubbed the Wahabiyyah preaching. This da'wah focuses on the invitation to persuade Allah in worship and away from all kinds of shirk.
Although accusations were made against the Kingdom, these kings consistently supported the Da'wah.
Following are the names and times of the rulers of Saudi Arabia:
1. Abdul Aziz bin Abdurrahman Al Saud (1932 - 1953)
He was the first king and served until his death. Abdul Aziz actually ruled in the Nejed area (Riyadh and surrounding areas). His conflict with King Husein, the ruler of Hijaz, made Abdul Aziz succeed in expanding his power to the establishment of the modern Saudi Kingdom. Abdul Aziz is the 4th descendant of Amir Muhammad bin Saud who was during Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab.
2. Saud bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (1953 - 1964)
Saud came to power after his father died. During Saud's leadership, the first non-religious university in Saudi was named King Saud University (KSU). During the reign of King Saud also stood Rabithah Alam al Islamy (World Muslim League). King Saud was overthrown by his younger brother, Faisal in 1964.
3. Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (1964 - 1975)
When he overthrew his brother, Faisal had the support of many members of the kingdom and also the scholars. Faisal is known as a supporter of Palestinian independence. In 1973 Faisal bravely blocked the supply of oil to America, which led to the oil crisis. In 1975 Faisal was killed and left various conspiracy theories behind him.
4. Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (1975 - 1982)
Since Faisal was killed, Khalid ascended the throne. King Khalid is known for his unifying figure. Its populist policies succeeded in making the KSA a prosperous kingdom. Many infrastructure projects and also the construction of schools and health facilities built during his time. During his time there was also an attack on the Grand Mosque by the Juhayman mob. During his time also Aramco oil company fully belonged to the kingdom. He died of illness in 1982.
5. Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Alu Saud (1982 - 2005)
Fahd became the longest-serving king. Even since his brother Khalid was ill, many royal matters had been left to Fahd. During Fahd's time many important events took place, including the annexation of Saddam Hussein to Kuwait which continued with the attack on Saudi Arabia that triggered the Gulf War in 1990. Fahd also adopted the policy of asking for American assistance and forming coalition forces to defeat Iraq. Fahd was also the first king to use the title of Servant of the Two Holy Lands.
6. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Alu Saud (2005-2015)
King Abdullah succeeded his brother who died in 2005. However, defacto, King Abdullah has held executive power since 1995 due to King Fahd's deteriorating health condition due to stroke. King Abdullah has a great concern for education. He founded KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). Tens of thousands of Saudi youths were sent by him to prestigious campus campuses abroad. In his time, it was recorded that 25% of the royal budget was allocated for education. King Abdullah is also known as a supporter of interfaith dialogue. He initiated the founding of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna, Austria.
7. Salman bin Abdul Aziz Alu Saud (2015 - present)
Salman was known as the Governor of the Capital of Riyadh for almost half a century. After Prince Nayef, who was appointed crown prince, successor to Abdullah, died, Salman rose to the crown prince. In 2015, Salman ascended the throne after Abdullah's death. Among Salman's policies was to appoint his son Muhammad (MBS) to be the crown prince, in the condition that the first generation of Abdul Aziz's children still existed. Raja Salman also initiated Saudi Vision 2030 as an effort by KSA to free itself from dependence on oil. King Salman is known as a generous king. Through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, he has contributed more than 3 billion US dollars to more than 1000 humanitarian projects.
